Implementable confidence sets in high dimensional regression
نویسنده
چکیده
We consider the setting of linear regression in high dimension. We focus on the problem of constructing adaptive and honest confidence sets for the sparse parameter θ, i.e. we want to construct a confidence set for θ that contains θ with high probability, and that is as small as possible. The l2 diameter of a such confidence set should depend on the sparsity S of θ the larger S, the wider the confidence set. However, in practice, S is unknown. This paper focuses on constructing a confidence set for θ which contains θ with high probability, whose diameter is adaptive to the unknown sparsity S, and which is implementable in practice.

Comparison of Ordinal Response Modeling Methods like Decision Trees, Ordinal Forest and L1 Penalized Continuation Ratio Regression in High Dimensional Data
Background: Response variables in most medical and health-related research have an ordinal nature. Conventional modeling methods assume predictor variables to be independent, and consider a large number of samples (n) compared to the number of covariates (p). Therefore, it is not possible to use conventional models for high dimensional genetic data in which p > n. The present study compared th...
متن کاملRobust high-dimensional semiparametric regression using optimized differencing method applied to the vitamin B2 production data
Background and purpose: By evolving science, knowledge, and technology, we deal with high-dimensional data in which the number of predictors may considerably exceed the sample size. The main problems with high-dimensional data are the estimation of the coefficients and interpretation. For high-dimension problems, classical methods are not reliable because of a large number of predictor variable...
متن کاملFeature Selection for Small Sample Sets with High Dimensional Data Using Heuristic Hybrid Approach
Feature selection can significantly be decisive when analyzing high dimensional data, especially with a small number of samples. Feature extraction methods do not have decent performance in these conditions. With small sample sets and high dimensional data, exploring a large search space and learning from insufficient samples becomes extremely hard. As a result, neural networks and clustering a...
متن کاملMethods for regression analysis in high-dimensional data
By evolving science, knowledge and technology, new and precise methods for measuring, collecting and recording information have been innovated, which have resulted in the appearance and development of high-dimensional data. The high-dimensional data set, i.e., a data set in which the number of explanatory variables is much larger than the number of observations, cannot be easily analyzed by ...
متن کاملAsymptotic Equivalence and Adaptive Estimation for Robust Nonparametric Regression
Asymptotic equivalence theory developed in the literature so far are only for bounded loss functions. This limits the potential applications of the theory because many commonly used loss functions in statistical inference are unbounded. In this paper we develop asymptotic equivalence results for robust nonparametric regression with unbounded loss functions. The results imply that all the Gaussi...
